Parent Drop Off and Pick Up Plan

Pick up and drop off map

Key to School Map:

  • Yellow Arrows indicate flow of parent vehicle traffic for parents parking (kindergarten, preschool, self-contained classrooms)

  • Green Arrows indicate flow of parent vehicle traffic

  • Blue Arrows indicate flow of Bus Only traffic

  • Red rectangles are areas of student traffic and crossing *(These areas require your full attention at all times)

  • Aqua rectangles are areas for students to be picked up by parents vehicles on the street

Drop Off:

Drop off for grades 1st-6th is along the curb in front of the school in the parking north lot. Students will enter the gate by the kindergarten playground. Kindergarten parents need to park and walk their child to the kindergarten playground. The parking spots along the north side of the parking lot would be the best area to park. When crossing the parking lot, please use the crosswalk.

Pick Up:

  • Pick up is in the north parking lot for grades 1-3 and in the south parking lot for grades 4-6.  Please pull as far forward as possible to allow as many cars as possible to line up.

  • Please do not get in line early as this will cause a back up on to the street.

  • Right turn only into the school parking lot. Please approach from the north going southbound so we do not block the street with cars waiting to turn left.

  • Parents may park on the west side of 43rd Street and walk up to meet your child in the front of the school or park at the church south of the school.

  • Parents of students in self-contained classrooms may use the pickup lane in the north parking lot or they may park under the shade structure and walk to the library to pick up their children. If parking and walking, please use the crosswalk.

Notes:

  • All parents who pick up students MUST drive slowly.  Please yield to any bus exiting the parking lot on the north side of campus (they will exit the entrance).

  • The red rectangles are stopping points where parent traffic will yield to pedestrian crossing points or other vehicles.

  • We would encourage parents who are new to WWA to drive through the pull through, prior to the first day of school or on the first day to familiarize yourself with these areas.

No Morning Drop Off prior to 8:15 AM, unless you are in the Mascot Program.

Arrival and Departure

Safety of each and every child in our building is of upmost importance. In an effort to provide for the safety of each child, there is playground supervision thirty minutes before school begins. Students should not arrive at school more than thirty minutes before school begins and should leave promptly at dismissal time. Parents of students who arrive too early on a regular basis will be contacted to resolve this situation.

Before and after school programs are available for families that need extended care for their children.  Please contact (602) 449-7300 for more information.

All students who are late for school must enter through the front lobby doors, and report to the office for a tardy pass.

Campus Visit Procedures

We Welcome Visitors to Whispering Wind!

For the SAFETY AND SECURITY of all our students, all exterior doors will be locked during school hours with the exception of the front entrance doors leading into the office lobby. All parents and visitors must enter through these doors, report to the office, sign in, wear a "Visitor" Pass while in building. This is true of students who are late for school also.

Parents are encouraged to visit our school whether to observe a class program, conference with a teacher or principal, or to volunteer your services. Before visiting a classroom, however, please make arrangements with the teacher in advance. You are still required to report to the front office, our Receptionist will contact the teacher upon your arrival. Meeting to conference with the teacher while classes are in session is inappropriate, and discouraged. It is expected that your visit will not interrupt the normal days' classroom activities, this is for the protection of your child, and is required by State law.
